Elise Franz Finley Endowment

Elsie Franz Finley supported Providence in many ways. Working with the Milwaukie Hospital Foundation and our former Program Director, Dr. Glenn Rodriguez, Elsie wanted to develop a legacy to fund Innovation in Education within our Patient Centered Medical Homes. This endowment is reflective of the community and Providence Milwaukie Hospital (PMH)Foundation support for training the next generation of Family Medicine physicians. We envision this training pushing the envelope in community assessment and outreach. Already, our Hospital and PMH Foundation have used their community needs assessment to identify food insecurity as a need. This led to support and eventually the Community Teaching Kitchen. Each Fall, we plan on also having an Annual Lectureship series framing a social determinant of health issue. Our inaugural lectureship was on becoming unhoused and included a Cost of Poverty Experience for Health care. This fostered a deeper empathy and understanding amongst attendees, which included this capstone event for our new residents on their community medicine week.
